“I’ve wanted to be a fighter pilot for as long as I can remember. I’m grateful for the opportunity to bring pride to my family and the community that raised me.”
Spencer Peot, Bay Port 2009, is an F-35 Instructor Pilot for the U.S. Air Force. After high school, he attended the University of Minnesota Twin Cities where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering and completed the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps program to earn his commission as a 2nd Lieutenant. From there, he attended undergraduate pilot training and earned qualifications as an instructor and evaluator pilot. This year, he transitioned to the F-35 and completed the instructor course.
On October 29, Spencer came home to lead the flyover over Lambeau Field for the Packers/Vikings game. Spencer credits his well-rounded educational experience at Bay Port for providing a strong foundation for college.
Spencer says about his high school experience, “I learned patience and precision through hours of choir rehearsal with Mr. Pufall. I learned the meaning of teamwork playing football and baseball with my classmates. I inherited perseverance and grit through grueling wrestling practices with Coaches Shefchik and Berna. I developed critical thinking skills participating in academic decathlon competitions with Mrs. Bailey. Finally, I had a top-notch educational experience and the opportunity to take several AP classes to set the stage for college. I would not be where I am today without the dedication of the teachers and coaches at Bay Port High School.”
