In spring of 2024, HSEF awarded a $2,000 Educator Grant to the Bay Port FFA to build their lamb livestock program from the ground up. This grant helped provide essential equipment like fans, livestock blowers, clippers, oil, and blade sets. With these resources, FFA members have been able to dive deeper into their passion for agriculture and livestock management!
Two dedicated FFA members, Megan Rocheleau and Makenzie Frisch, showcased their lambs at the Brown County Fair for the first time. Thanks to the grant, they learned valuable skills such as shearing and show preparation, which led them to amazing achievements!
Megan Rocheleau:
1st Place Heavyweight Market Lamb
Reserve Grand Champion Market Lamb
1st Place Senior Lamb Showman Supreme
Overall Lamb Showman
Makenzie Frisch:
1st Place Mediumweight Market Lamb
Grand Champion Market Lamb
2nd place Senior Lamb Showman
With newfound skills and support, Megan and Makenzie look forward to expanding their project by adding more sheep and inspiring other FFA members to start their own livestock projects.
Thank you to our donors for your continued support in empowering our students and nurturing their agricultural dreams!
