Zoar Fulwilder, Class of 1992

Zoar Fulwilder, Bay Port 1992, is the Founder/Managing Member of Mavid Construction. Formed in 2008, Fulwilder had the goal to build a nationwide Native American-owned construction company founded on experience, knowledge, diversity, financial resources, and integrity. After Fulwilder graduated from UW-Madison, his journey into the construction industry was not direct. He worked as a commercial real estate development analyst, was a partner in a tech company, and worked in finance before he became partner in a start-up construction company. He has since bought out a few of his original partners and is now the majority owner of Mavid Construction Services, LLC.

“Mavid Construction has evolved into a diversified commercial interiors and renewable energy development company that services a wide range of customers, employs over 130 union trades people, and operates in 17 states,” said Fulwilder. “I truly enjoy hiring new people and watching their careers develop, along with providing quality interiors to my customers.”

Fulwilder believes that his experience at Bay Port gave him great baseline academic skills and an opportunity to have teachers that were both passionate about teaching and relatable. “As one of the few Native Americans attending Bay Port at the time, the experience gave me a lifelong focus on finding commonalities with those around me,” said Fulwilder. “Also, as a member of the football, track and wrestling teams I learned a lot about discipline, teamwork and perseverance.”
