Maya Jacques, Bay Port 2019, is studying to be a Registered Dietitian and will graduate with her master’s degree from UW-Green Bay in May 2026. Before attending UW-Green Bay, she earned her bachelor’s degree from UW-Madison in Nutrition and Dietetics. Maya spent time this past summer returning to Bay Port for a dietetic internship with the HSSD School Nutrition team.

During her internship, Maya prepared meals for Summer School students, helped with the Summer Lunch in the Park program, learned about menu planning and requirements, and presented to a Summer School class about nutrition.

“I think the School Nutrition department here is doing a great job, and I really appreciate how they got me involved with their daily work and included me in hands-on learning opportunities,” said Maya. “They have amazing plans for the future and I love how they are working towards making more meals from scratch.”

Maya played soccer during her time at Bay Port, and has always been interested in sports nutrition and how athletes can use food as fuel for performance in high school, college, or professional sports. After graduation from UW-Green Bay, Maya plans to use her skills as a Registered Dietitian to improve the lives of others.
